GEDC successfully hosted a webinar titled “Empowered to Speak, Equipped to Act: How to Deal with Complaints of Sexual Harassment” on 8 January 2026 via Zoom. The session aimed to provide participants with practical knowledge on handling sexual harassment complaints, covering survivors’ rights, criminal remedies, employer responsibilities, internal complaint mechanisms, and procedures under the Industrial Relations framework. The webinar attracted 20 participants from the legal community and the public. Through clear explanations and practical examples, the session encouraged informed discussion and raised awareness on managing complaints responsibly and sensitively.

appreciation dinner was held to recognise the contributions of committee
members and volunteer lawyers who have assisted and served the centre. The
event took place at The Upper Deck KL from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, and welcomed a
total of 40 volunteer lawyers and 9 BCLAC KL secretariat staff.

KL BAR: Young Lawyer’s Committee 16th Charity Night
The 16th Charity Night was held on 16 January 2026 at the Galaxy Banquet Hall, HGH Convention Centre, Sentul. This event marked the return of the iconic Charity Night after a six-year hiatus since 2019. The Charity Night was organised with the objective of raising funds for charitable purposes while fostering fellowship among members of the Bar and invited guests. The event was attended by a total of 149 attendees.
The event received cash sponsorships amounting to RM11,000, contributed by Chee Hoe & Associates, Foong Cheng Leong & Co, Choo Dee Wei, Daniel & Wong, Lavania & Balan Chambers, and Scribe Synergy Sdn Bhd. In addition, in-kind sponsorships were generously provided by Tuak Alus, Maggi, Thomas Philip, Sixteen Audio, and LEXUP, with an estimated total value of RM6,759.90 if converted to cash. The Charity Night featured a total of eight performances involving 28 performers, comprising solo, duet, dance, and band performances. Through donations collected during the event, the Young Lawyers Committee successfully raised a total sum of RM13,190.
Awards were presented to recognise outstanding performances and fundraising efforts. The Champion for Highest Donation Collection award was presented to Despicable Me team represented by Anna Tan Ling Er, Charmaine Denisha Lionel, Jarod Jimmy Lee Pillay, Priyadiana A/P Annadurai, Jason Lee Poh Hong, Chong Zheng Yang, Loo Junyuan
Siva Darshen A/L Sevandran, and Kyra Iman Yaacob for their dance performance. The First Runner-Up award was awarded to Brenda Loh Ling Li for her solo singing performance, while Holmium, comprising Nigel William Kraal and Kenny Tan, received the Second Runner-Up award for their duet performance. The Best Performance award was presented to Red Hot Curry Powder, a band group represented by Dasharan Pathmarajah, Danushan Pathmarajah, Peter Halach Santiago, Carmel Grace Philip, Gurjeevan Singh Sachdev, and Danesh Pathmarajah.
The 16th Charity Night was successfully conducted and achieved its intended objectives, reflecting the Young Lawyers Committee’s continued commitment to charitable causes and community engagement.
