Briefing
The Pupils Admission to the Bar Briefings were held
at the Kuala Lumpur Bar Auditorium on 1 December 2025 and 9 December 2025. The
first session, led by Michelle Siah Yi Yen, took place from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm
and was attended by 53 pupils. The second session, also conducted by Tay Kit
Hoo, was held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and was attended by 53 pupils.

Pupils
Introduction and Diversity & Inclusion Session
Jointly
organised by the Pupils Welfare Committee and the Gender Equality &
Diversity Committee, the Pupils Introduction Session in May was held on 1
December 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Bar Auditorium. Led by Michelle Siah Yi Yen,
the session was attended by 103 pupils. The purpose of the Pupils Introduction
Session is to introduce pupils to the structure of the Malaysian Bar and the
Kuala Lumpur Bar, the elections to both the Bar Council and the Kuala Lumpur
Bar Committee, and the highlights of the Malaysian Bar. It also included a
session for students to discuss issues and problems they encountered during
their pupillage period.
Also included
in the said Pupils Introduction Session was a session on “Diversity &
Inclusion: Unconscious Bias”. The aim of this segment is to educate and create
awareness about how our unconscious biases and innate prejudices lead to poor
judgment and poor decision-making, which in turn result in unintentional
discrimination and overall poor "diversity & inclusion" practices
in our workplaces. The session was conducted by Brenda Rangithan.

The Basics & Key Tenets Of Islamic Finance
Organised by
the Pupils Welfare Committee, this webinar was conducted by Dr Syed Adam
Alhabshi and moderated by Aina Zulaikha Ahmad Zaki. The webinar was held via
Zoom from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. We had 50 participants.

Judicial Review 102 - The Tools To Enforce Your Fundamental Rights
Organised by the Professional Development Committee, the seminar featured
Gregory Das as the speakers. Held at the Kuala Lumpur Bar Auditorium from 2:30
pm to 4:30 pm, the session welcomed 19 participants for an engaging and
insightful discussion.

LAC Pupils’ Training Programme Batch 125/2025
Organised by the Legal Aid Centre (Kuala
Lumpur) (“LAC KL”), the LAC Pupils’ Training Programme for Batch 125/2025 was
conducted from 5 to 12 December 2025. The training sessions were held
physically at the Bar Council Auditorium and the LAC KL Training Room.The
programme featured training sessions conducted by Selvaraja a/l Chinniah, Teoh
Alvare, Nooradila binti Abdul Aziz, Morhaneraj a/l Rajakumaran, Terrence Lee
Rohui, Sumitra Devi a/p Krishnan, Nadra Fatimah binti Mannan, as well as
representatives from LAC KL’s respective NGO partners.

Human Rights Event 2025
Organised by the Bar Council Human
Rights Committee, the Bar Council Legal Aid Centre Kuala Lumpur (“BCLAC KL”)
was invited to participate in the Human Rights Event held on 7 December 2025 at
The Grounds KL from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. BCLAC KL set up an information booth
to engage with members of the public, including walk-in clients and students,
to raise awareness of the Centre’s activities and services. Primary legal
advice was provided by volunteer lawyers, and visitors were given the
opportunity to learn more about BCLAC KL’s role and ongoing initiatives. A
total of six (6) volunteer lawyers and two (2) staff members took part in the
event. The booth received encouraging interest and engagement throughout the
session, reflecting strong public interest in human rights and access to legal
assistance.
Tips from the Bench: Do’s and Don’ts when submitting
Organised by the Professional Development Committee, the seminar featured
YA Dato’ Seri Vazeer Alam bin Mydin Meera, YA Dato’ Azizul Azmi bin Adnan, and
YA Puan Roz Mawar binti Rozain as the speakers were moderated by Jeremiah Rais
and Brenda Rangithan. Held at the Kuala Lumpur Bar Auditorium and via hybrid
from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, the session welcomed 347 participants for an engaging
and insightful discussion.

Welcome And Farewell Luncheon For Judges And Judicial Commissioners Of
The Kuala Lumpur High Court
Due to the overwhelming response, the CPCLC had reorganised the second Luncheon
to welcome High Court Judges and Judicial Commissioners who have just been
appointed or transferred to the Kuala Lumpur Court and to bid farewell to
Judges who have been elevated to the Court of Appeal, transferred to other
Courts or have retired as well as to bid farewell to the outgoing Chief Justice
of Malaya (“CJM”) and welcoming the new CJM.
The luncheon was held from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at the Library, Level 7,
Kuala Lumpur Court Complex. It was attended by the CJM and 2 of the Managing
Judges of the Kuala Lumpur Courts, 30 Judges from Court of Appeal and Kuala
Lumpur High Court and 107 members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar. In total, we had 140
attendees for the Luncheon.

Financial Statements: A Crash Course for Lawyers
Organised by the Professional Development Committee
in collaboration with the Securities Industry Development Corporation (“SIDC”),
the two-day programme featured Salleh Hassan as the speaker. Held at the Kuala
Lumpur Bar Auditorium from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, the session welcomed 95
participants for an engaging and insightful discussion.

Organised by the Bar Council Legal Aid
Centre Kuala Lumpur (“BCLAC KL”), the Exit Evaluation for Pupils’ Programme
Batch 123/2025 was conducted on 17 December 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The session was facilitated by Peter Halach Santiago and Morhaneraj a/l
Rajakumaran. The evaluation was held physically at the Bar Council Auditorium,
Level 2, Wisma Badan Peguam Malaysia.

Arts & Culture: The Legal Conversation Series - Session 4: Film,
Drama & Censorship
The
dialogue for “Arts and Culture: The Legal Conversation Series -Session 4: Film,
Drama & Censorship” was held on 18 December 2025 at the KL Bar Auditorium,
from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
The session
focused on the intersection of the arts and the law, particularly film, drama,
and censorship, providing a platform for dialogue among legal practitioners,
artists, and cultural enthusiasts. Participants engaged in discussions on legal
frameworks governing artistic expression, censorship regulations, and the
challenges faced by creators in balancing creativity with compliance.
The event was
attended by approximately 36 participants from diverse backgrounds, including
members of the Bar, students and the general public. The speakers
were Shahili Bin Abdan (Namron), Jo Kukathas, and Meninder Kaur. The moderator
was Asma Binti Badrul Azmi.

KLBC Year-End Social 2025
The KLBC Year-End Social was held on 19
December 2025, commencing at 7:00 pm at Elli Rocks, 46-M, Jalan Medan Setia 2,
Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur. The event served a free buffet dinner with
discounted drinks for members of the bar and pupils in chambers, offering a
festive and relaxed environment for members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee
(KLBC) community to celebrate the year’s achievements, strengthen professional
relationships, and foster camaraderie.
Guests were welcomed to an evening
filled with lively conversation, music, refreshments, and a variety of dining
options, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The gathering provided an
excellent platform for lawyers and pupils to interact outside the formal work
environment, share experiences, exchange ideas, and recognize collaborative
efforts within the legal profession.
The event also emphasised the importance
of mentorship and professional networking, allowing pupils to engage with
senior lawyers in a social setting and strengthen connections across chambers. The event saw the participation of
approximately 40 attendees, including both pupils and practising lawyers.
