Majlis Sambutan Aidilfitri

Organised by the Social Committee, the Majlis Sambutan Aidilfitri was held on 3 May 2024 at Tigabatu, Wisma E&C Damansara Heights from 7:00pm. We had 39 participants who joined the celebration.

Pupils Call Briefing

Organised by the Young Lawyers & Pupils Committee, the briefings for the Pupils Admission to the Bar for May 2024 were held at the Kuala Lumpur Bar Auditorium on: -

(i) 6 May 2024, from 11:00am to 12:00pm. The briefing was conducted by Tay Kit Hoo and was attended by 11 pupils.;

(ii) 10 May 2024, from 10:30am to 11:30am. The briefing was conducted by Ooi Jia Liang and was attended by 12 pupils; and

(iii) 27 May 2024, from 10:00am to 11:00am. The briefing was conducted by Ooi Jia Liang and was attended by 19 pupils.

Organised by the Legal Aid Centre Kuala Lumpur, the orientation for pupils of Batch 118/2024 was facilitated by Kenneth Koh on 8 May 2024 from 9:00am to 1:00pm at the Bar Council Auditorium. A total of 157 pupils attended the orientation.

Pupils Introduction and Diversity & Inclusion Session

Jointly organised by the Young Lawyers & Pupils Committee and the Gender Equality & Diversity Committee, the Pupils Introduction Session in May was held on 27 May 2024 at the Raja Aziz Addruse Auditorium, Level 2. Led by Ooi Jia Liang, the session was attended by 213 pupils. The purpose of the Pupils Introduction Session is to introduce pupils to the structure of the Malaysian Bar and the Kuala Lumpur Bar, the elections to both the Bar Council and the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee, and the highlights of the Malaysian Bar. It included a session for students to discuss issues and problems they encountered during their pupillage period.

Also included in the said Pupils Introduction Session was a session on “Diversity & Inclusion: Unconscious Bias”. The aim of this segment is to educate and create awareness about how our unconscious biases and innate prejudices lead to poor judgment and poor decision-making, which in turn result in unintentional discrimination and overall poor "diversity & inclusion" practices in our workplaces. The session was conducted by Brenda Rangithan and Tay Kit Hoo.
