Secretary's Journal (#2-09/10)

Dear Members

KLBC sat for our 2nd meeting on 9th April 2009. We welcomed the 2 co-opted members, being Nurul and Janet Chai. Their presence will definitely be a boost to KLBC.

At the last meeting we discussed on a few matters, and among the prominent issue was the new system in KL High Courts. Also discussed was the possibility of buying our own Building.

We will also be meeting the Chief Justice, Tan Sri Zaki this Tuesday on 14th April 2009. We have collated the issues to be raised, based on feedback we received from members, particularly from our Civil Court Liaison Committee and Criminal Practice Committee; and hope to raise them all with the CJ.

We also agreed to alter the content of this Blog, wherein all updates will now be uploaded on KL Bar website only. We have engaged 2 vendors to look into our website with the eye to re-design the site. But till then, we hope you bear with the current old-fashion and archaic website.

Back to this Blog, we have agreed to add contents ranging from articles and blog postings from members, maybe interviews, and also legal updates etc. We wish to invite all members to send articles and postings to klbc@klbar.org.my, where we will moderate and post the relevant and interesting ones. You may write on anything related to Law, your legal practice or even you experience in your capacity of a lawyer. Tell us about you story. Tell us about your views.

As I am also Chair of the Information Technology Committee, I can disclose that I shall be moderating the Articles, Postings and comments.

A new addition is our very own twitter page. For those who are unaware of what a twitter is, just look at it as an electronic signboard at the Football Stadium, where we can put up announcements about KL Bar, except this electronic signboard is in cyber space. It is free and a very useful tool for our members to check on our updates.

We have received comments that we have sent out too many e-mails to members. Whilst we will try to minimise the same, but we sometimes cant help it as some of the information (especially related to Court and Land Office matters) need to be out to our members asap. However with twitter, for those who may be reluctant to read our e-mails (though I strongly discourage you from doing so) you may check out our twitter page.

The other Chairpersons of each Committee have been strongly encouraged to put their respective postings here to update members of their respective Committees.

Hopefully the Blog will be more interesting, but we do need your help to make it better. Please, (I am repeating here) do send in your Article/postings to the earlier referred e-mail.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,
Richard Wee
