PRACTICE DIRECTION NO. 1/2008 - ADJOURNMENT OF CASES

Y.A.A. the Chief Justice of Malaysia after consultation with Y.A.A. the President of the Court of Appeal, Y.A.A. the Chief Judge of Malaya, and Y.A.A. the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, issued the aforementioned Practice Direction No. 1 / 2008. Click here for a copy of the Practice Direction.

The Practice Direction outlines the matters that must be considered by the Court when dealing with an application for adjournment of cases. It revokes the Practice Direction No. 1/2004. And it takes effect from 1 August 2008.

Having serious concerns regarding paragraph 1 (iii) and (v) and that the same is equally applicable to paragraph 2, the KLBC had on 5 September 2008 met with the Chief Judge of Malaya to address these concerns. Y.A.A. the Chief Judge of Malaya agreed to look into the matters raised. The KLBC will continue to follow up on this matter.
