5 April 2017 Pupils Introduction Session A monthly tradition, the Pupils Introduction Session was held on 5 April 2017. The session, attended by 83 pupils, was led by Shashi Devan. The purpose of the session is to introduce pupils to the structure of the Malaysian Bar and the Kuala Lumpur Bar, the election to both the Bar Council and the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee (KLBC) and the highlights of the Malaysian Bar. It included a session for pupils to raise issues and problems faced by them during their pupillage period. The other executive committee members of the KLBC were also present to provide input and possible solutions. 7 January 2017 3rd KL Bar Pool Tournament 2017 This tournament was held on 7 January 2017 at 5ive Star Pool & Billiard SS15, Ground Floor, Subang Square Corporate Tower, Jalan SS15/4G. It was doubles competition with a handicap system to promote participation amongst new players. In total 10 pairs registered to play with the final, played on 19 January 2017. There was only 1 mixed doubles pair and 1 ladies doubles pair. They created a surprise when they both qualified for the semi-finals, beating out some more fancied pairs. The semi-finals were opposite affairs, one being a lopsided 8-0 win and the other going down to the wire with the ladies doubles pair losing 6-9 after leading 6-5 and needing only one more frame to win. The final was a cagey one though sprinkled with some excellent safety shots and kick shots. Eventually, Michael Tan Ching Hooi and Eugene Teo ran out deserving winners by a score of 9-6!
