8 - 9 December 2012 was the Pesta Penang Dragon Boat Race 2012. It was the first time I had competed at this annual race, which is normally held in the month of December. It's usually organized at a much smaller scale compared with the grand mid-year Penang International Dragon Boat Festival (PIDBF) which is also held at the Teluk Bahang Dam. It has only been a year since the Barbarians were set up but the team has improved by leaps and bounds. In particular, since the middle of this year, where the team competed at the PIDBF, the team has continued to get even stronger. The last 6 months have seen a mix of experienced members as well as newcomers coming together to race in Penang.Training during this half of the year has involved land drills on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Saturday lake training. 01 and 03 November 2012 22 nd Annual Sports Carnival - RSC v KL Bar The 22nd Annual Sports Carnival between the KL Bar and Royal Selangor Club (RSC) for the YA Tan Sri Dato’ Harun Hashim Challenge Trophy was held on 01 and 03 November 2012.  The games played were cricket, tennis, soccer, hockey, badminton and pool/snooker. The KL Bar beat RSC 1-0, winning at badminton but they drew at cricket, tennis, soccer, hockey and pool/snooker to become the overall champion. Arguably the largest event in the Young Lawyers’ calendar, the Charity Night is an annual event organised by the Kuala Lumpur Young Lawyers Committee (“KLYLC”) to raise funds for worthy social causes. The Charity Night is an event that utilises a fascinating multi-faceted mechanism in order to raise funds. The first and second method is by generating proceeds via ticket sales of the Charity Night itself and by collecting donations from various law firms; a very traditional methods. The third, especially to an uninitiated, is quite novel; all performances at the Charity Night are performed by lawyers, the very group the Charity Night targets, with the winning performance determined solely by the amount of donations / proceeds that that performance could amass throughout the night. 04 October 2012 PDC Seminar on Online Defamation Rishwant Singh from Messrs Zul Rafique & Partners presented the seminar which was held at the KL Bar Auditorium at 3.00pm. 02 September 2012 Visit to Orang Asli Settlement at Kg Bertang, Pahang The Young Lawyers Committee jointly with ‘Project Light A Home’ organised a visit to the Orang Asli Settlement at Kg Bertang, Pahang on 02 September 2012 as a run up to the Charity Night 2012.
