Calling All Volunteer Lawyers of Bar Council Legal Aid Centre (Kuala Lumpur) to attend the SUHAKAM Public Inquiry on the Arrest and Detention of 5 KL Legal Aid Lawyers - 14th to 16th August 2009 The Bar Council Legal Aid Centre (KL) wishes to inform all its volunteer lawyers that the SUHAKAM Public Inquiry on the Arrest and Detention of 5 KL Legal Aid Lawyers on 7th May 2009 will be held as follows: Date: 14, 15, 16 August 2009 (Fri, Sat & Sun) Time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Venue: SUHAKAM Inquiry Room, Level 29, Menara Tun Razak, Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur All volunteer lawyers are urged to attend the Public Inquiry to show support, as this Inquiry will have a serious impact on the Bar Council's legal aid services and programs in the country. On 14 February 2009, the Kuala Lumpur Legal Aid Centre held its Annual Review and Election for the year 2008 at Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee Auditorium, Wisma Kraftangan, Kuala Lumpur. The Kuala Lumpur Legal Aid Centre Anuual Review and Election was chaired by Tuan Haji Sulaiman. Mr Ravi Nekoo, Chair of KLLAC delivered his introductory speech on overall report of 2008 activities run by the KLLAC followed by the presentation of detailed reports by Project Heads of all existing committees under the KLLAC. The chairperson then opened up the floor for Question and Answers session allowing volunteer lawyers to ask questions on reports presented by Project Heads of all existing committees under the KLLAC. After the Question and Answer session was concluded, the Chairperson proceeded with election of four Office Bearers positions namely Chair, Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Treasurer by opening up the floor for nomination. KL Legal Aid Centre (KLLAC) launched its very own website on the 26th November 2008. The launch was held at the KLLAC room at the Duta Court Complex.  The launch saw the presence of Bar Council Officer Bearers and Senior Police Officers. Current National Legal Aid Committee of the Malaysian Bar, Cecil Rajendran officially launched the website and at the same time also officially declared the LAC room at the Duta Courts, officially open too.
