Treasure Hunt Booty donated to Touch Dialysis Centre

The Social, Arts and Culture Committee met with Mr Andrew Ng and Mr. Wong Chee Kong of the Persatuan Dialisis Touch Petaling Jaya, Selangor ("PDT") at Kota Damansara, 26 & 28 Jalan PJU 5/16 Dataran Sunway (“Centre”) on Saturday,13 December 2008 at 10.30am to present a cheque of RM8,800.00 from the proceeds of the LexisNexis-KL Bar Treasure Hunt 2008.   The Centre was established by PDT, a non-govermental organisation registered with the Registrar of Society. Its purpose is to support the Malaysian Government’s call to set up more dialysis centres to cater to the increasing number of kidney failure patients. Haemodialysis is currently the most effective treatment to keep patients with failed kidneys alive until they can receive a kidney transplant.   The Centre has the capacity to treat 60 patients and is equipped with modern facilities to serve patients with separate treatment rooms for Hepatitis B and C patients. KL Bar Annual Dinner 2008

Contributed by Janet Chai Pei Ying from the KL Bar Social Arts & Culture Committee (Organising Committee) Enchanted was how members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar and distinguished guests from the Bench felt at the end of the evening of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Annual Dinner and Dance 2008. Themed ‘Magical Fairytale - A Whole New World’, the dinner was held at One World Hotel, Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya on 29th November 2008. The dinner was graced by, among others, the President of the Court of Appeal, Chief Judge of Malaya and President of the Malaysian Bar.   Princesses, wizards and fairies were some of the characters seen in the crowd. There were also ‘out of theme’ characters such as the Gladiator and the Emperor.   Entertaining the crowd were emcees, Seira Sacha ( Little Red Riding Hood ), and Choo Dee Wei ( Peter Pan ).   The night began with a truly mesmerising waltz by dancers from the Kuala Lumpur Dancers’ Association. The crowd was also treated to a Michael Jack
