Pupils
Introduction Session
Organised by the KLBC
Pupils Committee, the pupils introduction session for January was held on 15
January 2015. The session, attended by 85 pupils, was led by Shashi Devan.
Pupils were briefed on the structure of the Malaysian Bar and the Kuala Lumpur
Bar, the election to both the Bar Council and the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee
(KLBC) and the highlights of the Malaysian Bar. It included a session for
pupils to raise issues and problems faced by them during their pupillage period
and members of the KLBC were on hand to provide input and possible solutions. The
pupils were also shown a video montage of the History of the Malaysian Bar.

with the Managing Judges of the Kuala Lumpur High Court
This Meeting
was by invitation from the Managing Judges and was held at 3:00 pm at the Bilik
Gerakan Khas, Palace of Justice, Putrajaya. The KLBC was represented by H.R.
Dipendra, Goh Siu Lin, Jacky Loi Yap Loong, Shashi Devan Thalmalingam, Lim Chi
Chau, Foong Cheng Leong and Civil Practice Committee member, Ajeet Kaur and the
Judiciary was respresented by Managing Judges Y.A. Tan Sri Hasan bin Lah, Y.A. Dato’
Azahar bin Mohamed and Y.A. Datuk Zaharah binti Ibrahim and Puan Al Baishah
binti Haji Abd Manan, Tuan Che Wan Zaidi bin Che Wan Ibrahim, Tuan Mohd Khairi
bin Haron, Puan Hilmiah bt Yusof, Puan Nor Rajiah bt Mat Zin and Puan Nor Aini
binti Yusof. Amongst the
issues raised at the meeting were hasty disposal of cases, written submissions,
general lack of appreciation of subject matter and understanding of the law, fixing
of trial/hearing dates, e-Filing, hearing of remand applications by Registrars of
the Lower Courts, conduct of court staff at the RKKK Petition
Registry, mediation, transcribing and the Criminal Courts.

Bar Run
Organised by the KLBC
Sports & Recreation Committee, the event was held on Sunday, 25 January
2015 at Lake Gardens at 6:45 am. 58 teams comprising members of the Bar and
pupils participated in this run. The inaugural KL Bar Run was a huge success
