The meeting was held on Monday, 7 August 2023 at 11:00am at the Kuala Lumpur
Contingent Police Headquarters. The Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee was represented
by the Chairman, Alvin Oh Seong Yew, Honorary Secretary, Nimalan Devaraja,
Chairperson of the Criminal Law Practice Committee, Rajsurian Pillai and
Chairperson of the KL Legal Aid Centre, Terrence Lee Rohui.
The
purpose of the courtesy call was to foster good relationship between the police
and KLBC and also to share information and exchange opinions with each other.

Pupils Introduction and Diversity & Inclusion Session
The Pupils Introduction Session in August 2023 was held on 14 August 2023 at the Kuala Lumpur Bar Auditorium from 2:30pm to 5:15pm. Led by Weera Premananda, the session was attended by 85 pupils. The purpose of the Pupils Introduction Session was to introduce pupils to the structure of the Malaysian Bar and the Kuala Lumpur Bar, the elections process to both the Bar Council and the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee, and the highlights of the Malaysian Bar. It also included a session for students to discuss issues and problems they encountered during their pupillage period.
Also included in the said Pupils Introduction Session was a session on “Diversity & Inclusion: Unconscious Bias”. The aim of this segment is to educate and create awareness about how our unconscious biases and innate prejudices lead to poor judgment and poor decision-making, which in turn result in unintentional discrimination and overall poor "diversity & inclusion" practices in our workplaces. The session was conducted by Tay Kit Hoo and Brenda Rangithan, Co-Chairpersons of the Gender Equality & Diversity Committee.
