1:15pm and 10 April 2023 from 11:00am to 12:10pm, The briefings were led by
Weera Premananda and 44 pupils and 18 pupils attended, respectively.

Tour of the Legal Aid Centre | Constitutional Law Committee and the Malaysian Law Students' Network ("MLSN")
The Bar Council's Constitutional Law Committee organised a Tour and Discussion on the topic of "Citizenship for Children Born Overseas to Malaysian Mothers” in collaboration with the Malaysian Law Students' Network ("MLSN").
The Bar Council Legal Aid Centre Kuala Lumpur (“LAC”) was one of the venues the participants visited as part of their tour. The tour took place from 11:30am to 12:30pm and a total of 60 students participated in the tour.

Meeting with the Legal Aid Department
The Federal Government's Legal Aid Department invited the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee (“KLBC”) for a meeting to facilitate develop good relations between the two entities and to troubleshoot issues of mutual concern regarding laws (Jurisdiction), panel of lawyers and referral system to private practitioners. The meeting took place in Bangunan Hal Ehwal Undang-Undang, from 10:30am to 12:00pm.
The representatives from the Legal Aid Department were Dato’ Wan Jeffry Bin Kassim (Director of JBG), Rusita Binti Md Lazim (Deputy Director of JBG), Nurul Huda binti Mohd Salehuddin (Director of Research & Policy), Mohd Asri Bin Abd Rahaman Sidik (Director of Meditation, Litigation & Advice (Civil), Nuraswan Bin Aminuddin (Assistant Director Meditation, Litigation & Advice (Civil) and Nur Alia Farisha binti Jemangin (Legal Officer).
The KLBC was represented by Alvin Oh Seong Yew (Chairman of KLBC), Nimalan Devaraja (Honorary Secretary of KLBC), Morhaneraj a/l Rajakumaran (Honorary Secretary of Kuala Lumpur Legal Aid Centre (“LAC”), Collin Arvind Andrew (Management Panel Member of LAC), Sumitra Veeriah (Executive Director of LAC), and Jeevanathan Angappan (Assistant Executive Director of LAC).

Pupils Introduction and Diversity & Inclusion Session
The Pupils Introduction Session in April was held on 18 April 2023 and 19 April 2023 via Zoom from 2:30pm to 5:30pm. Led by Weera Premananda, the session was attended by 81 pupils and 85 pupils respectively. The purpose of the Pupils Introduction Session is was to introduce pupils to the structure of the Malaysian Bar and the Kuala Lumpur Bar, the election to both the Bar Council and the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee, and the highlights of the Malaysian Bar. It included a session for students to discuss issues and problems they encountered during their pupillage period.
Also included in the said Pupils Introduction Session was a session on “Diversity & Inclusion: Unconscious Bias”. The aim of this segment is to educate and create awareness about how our unconscious biases and innate prejudices lead to poor judgment and poor decision-making, which in turn result in unintentional discrimination and overall poor "diversity & inclusion" practices in our workplaces. The session was conducted by Thulasy Suppiah.
