Pupils Introduction and Diversity & Inclusion Session
The February Pupils Introduction Session was held on 8 February 2023 via Zoom from 2:30pm to 5:30pm. Led by Weera Premananda, the session was attended by 78 pupils. The purpose of the Pupils Introduction Session was to introduce pupils to the structure of the Malaysian Bar and the Kuala Lumpur Bar, the election to both the Bar Council and the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee, and the highlights of the Malaysian Bar. It included a session for pupils to raise issues and problems faced by them during their pupillage period.
A session on "Diversity & Inclusion: Unconscious Bias" was also included in the aforementioned Pupils Introduction Session. The aim of this segment is to educate and create awareness about how our unconscious bias(es) and innate prejudices lead to poor judgment and poor decision-making, which in turn result in unintentional discrimination and overall poor "diversity & inclusivity" practices in our workplaces. The session was conducted by Thulasy Suppiah, Chairperson of the Gender Equality & Diversity Committee.
