Pupils Introduction Session
The Pupils Introduction Session in February was held online via Zoom. Led by Rajsurian Pillai, the session was attended by 85 pupils. The purpose of the Pupils Introduction Session is to introduce pupils to the structure of the Malaysian Bar and the Kuala Lumpur Bar, the election to both the Bar Council and the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee (“KLBC”) and the highlights of the Malaysian Bar. It included a session for pupils to raise issues and problems faced by them during their pupillage period.
Also included in the said Pupils Introduction Session was a session on “Diversity & Inclusion” which aim was to educate and create awareness among the pupils on, inter alia, issues related to gender sensitisation, sexual harassment and unconscious bias. The session was conducted by Firdaus Husni, Chief Human Rights Strategist (MCCHR) and Jasmine Wong, a member of the KLBC Gender Equality and Diversity Committee.

29th Annual General Meeting Of The Kuala Lumpur Bar
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the imposition of the Movement Control Order, this year’s Annual General Meeting was conducted virtually via an online platform. The Office-Bearers of the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee for 2021/22 elected at the AGM were: Chairman – Vivekananda Sukumaran; Committee members – Nizam Bashir, Collin Arvind Andrew, Alvin Oh Seong Yew, Jacky Loi Yap Loong, Nimalan Devaraja, Terrence Lee Rohui, Lim Yin Faye, Thulasy Suppiah, Rajsurian Pillai and Shugan Raman. Harleen Kaur (Leena) was elected as the KL Bar’s Representative on the Bar Council. It was also confirmed at the AGM that the subscription for the year 2021 was to remain at RM125.00 per member.
