Seminar on Understanding Forensic Reports
Organised by the Criminal Practice Committee, this seminar was presented by Amidon Anan on 11 February 2017 at the KL Bar Auditorium from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The seminar was attended by 32 participants. The seminar covered, “What is Forensic Report”; “Content of what is Forensic Report”; “Key points on the Forensic Report”; and “How understanding the Forensic Report may help your client”.

Seminar on the Fundamentals of the Law of Crime
Organised by the Young Lawyers Committee, this seminar was presented by G. Manimegalai and Farhan Read on 15 February 2017 at the KL Bar Auditorium from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm. The seminar was attended by 22 participants. The seminar covered, "Overview on Arrest and Remand proceedings"; "Practical Approach in handling criminal matters"; "A DPPs viewpoint on criminal prosecutions"; "An overview of Child (Amendment) Act 2016 – General Process for handling a Child in ‘Conflict with the law’"; and "What are my rights to a fair court procedure? Am I under arrest? Can I get a bail? Do I plead guilty or proceed with trial? Power of Court? Appeal / Revision?".

Reference Proceedings
A Reference Proceedings was held for 13 departed members of the Kuala Lumpur Bar on 16 February 2017 at 9:00 am. Presided by Y.A. Datuk Hanipah Binti Farikullah, the Reference Proceedings was in respect and memory of Mohd Daud bin Mohd Nor, Sothinathan Kanagasingam, Chin Choon @ Chin Tee Fut, Mohamed Razif bin Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Yeop, Wong Sai Fong, Moghan a/l Muthiah, Hew Kuen Yee, Venu Nair, Datuk Fatimah Binti Hj Sulaiman, Hor Sweet Mui, Chandra Kumaran, Dato’ Haji Mohamed Ismail Bin Mohamed Shariff and Zulkafli Bin Abd Hamid. Pupils Introduction Session
As a monthly tradition organised by the Pupils Committee, the Pupils Introduction Session for February was held on 17 February 2017. The session, attended by 102 pupils, was led by Shashi Devan. The purpose of the session is to introduce pupils to the structure of the Malaysian Bar and the Kuala Lumpur Bar, the election to both the Bar Council and the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee (KLBC) and the highlights of the Malaysian Bar. It included a session for pupils to raise issues and problems faced by them during their pupillage period and other members of the KLBC were also present to provide input and possible solutions. Like previous sessions, the pupils were also shown a video montage of the History of the Malaysian Bar.

Appreciation Dinner
An Appreciation Dinner was held on 17 February 2017 at SalsaBar, Bangsar for all members and non-members of the Bar who have sacrificed their time for the Kuala Lumpur Bar. These members have contributed by giving lectures, moderating seminars/workshops, representing the KLBC at hearings of Admissions to the Bar, sitting in subcommittees and rendering any other form of assistance to the KLBC.

Organised by the Professional Development Committee, this seminar was presented by H.R. Dipendra on 21 February 2017 at the KL Bar Auditorium from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The seminar was attended by 21 participants.

Seminar for Lawyers on Understanding Clients’ Annual Reports and Its Financial Statement
Organised by the Professional Development Committee, this seminar was presented by Lim Kien Chai on 22 February 2017 at the KL Bar Auditorium from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The seminar was attended by 41 participants.  The seminar covered, amongst others, "Introductory on its importance"; "Accounting jargons made understandable for lawyers"; "What are the components of Annual Report?"; "What are these: ledger accounts, journal entries, double-entries, T-accounts?"; "Why this term “Trial Balance”?"; "Why this term “Balance Sheet”?"; "What are the salient features of a Balance Sheet?"; "What are and the types of Assets?"; "What are and the types of Liabilities?"; and " Are Balance Sheet’s liabilities an indication of “not good” financial position and/or poor financial management”.

25th Annual General Meeting of the Kuala Lumpur Bar
The 25th Annual General Meeting (“AGM”) of the Kuala Lumpur Bar scheduled for 2:00 pm kicked off with a Briefing at the AGM on the Expansion of the E-Court System (Phase 2) throughout Peninsular Malaysia conducted by Desmond Ho Chee Cheong, Co-Chairperson of the Bar Council Court Liaison Committee. The office-bearers of the KLBC for 2017/18 elected at the AGM were: Chairman - Goh Siu Lin; Committee members - Alvin Oh Seong Yew, Vivekananda Sukumaran, Shashi Devan Thalmalingam, Foong Cheng Leong, Nik Elin Zurina bt Nik Abdul Rashid, Muhendaran Suppiah, Jacky Loi Yap Loong, New Sin Yew, Atan Mustaffa Yussof Ahmad and Chen Yu Szen.. Khaizan Sharizad Ab Razak was elected as the KL Bar’s Representative to the Bar Council.

Organised by the Professional Development Committee, this seminar was presented by Colin Andrew Pereira and Sanjeev Kumar Rasiah on 24 February 2017 at the KL Bar Auditorium from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The seminar was attended by 75 participants.  The seminar covered, amongst others, "Securing Proper Instructions (Warrant to Act)"; "File and Client Management"; "Jurisdiction of Courts  ( Territorial and Monetary)"; "Pleadings and Ancillary Matters"; "Common Interlocutory Applications"; "Preparing for Trial and Case Management Directions"; and "Introduction to Conducting a Trial".

Seminar on the Fundamentals of Bankruptcy and Revamping the Bankruptcy Act 1967
Organised by the Professional Development Committee, this seminar was presented by Trevor Jason Mark Padasian on 28 February 2017 at the KL Bar Auditorium from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The seminar was attended by 113 participants.  The seminar covered, amongst others, "Understanding the fundamentals of bankruptcy law and procedure in Malaysia"; and "Overview of the Bankruptcy (Amendment) Bill 2016".
