PDC Seminar on Online Defamation
Rishwant Singh from Messrs Zul Rafique & Partners presented the seminar which was held at the KL Bar Auditorium at 3.00pm. The seminar was attended by 39 participants and covered the following areas, "Online vs Traditional Defamation”, “Publication”, “Republication”, “The Cause of Action”, “Hyperlinks” and “Section 114 of the Evidence Act 1950”.

Pupils Introduction Session
Organised by the KL Bar Pupils Welfare Committee, the introduction session for October was held on 10 October 2012. The session, attended by 82 pupils, was led by Harleen Kaur (Leena) and Jason Kong. Pupils were briefed on the structure of the Malaysian Bar and the KL Bar, the election to both the Bar Council and the KL Bar Committee and highlights of the Malaysian Bar. It included a session for pupils to raise issues and problems faced by them during their period of pupillage and the Chairman and members of the KLBC were on hand to provide input and possible solutions. Amongst the concerns raised by the pupils at this session were pupils allowance, rude court staff, and limited exposure.

YLC Charity Night
The KL Bar Young Lawyers Charity Night 2012 was held on 12 October 2012 at Club Neverland, Jalan Kia Peng from 7.00pm onwards and featured 7 performances by young lawyers who competed in raising the most funds for charity. The event, with a sale of 968 tickets and total collections of RM32,905.50 from the performances for the night, generated a nett proceeds of RM52,000 which will go in aid of “Project Light a Home”. PDC Workshop on Financial Planning
Chooi Kum Ying, a Certified Financial Planner presented the workshop which was held at the KL Bar Auditorium at 3.00pm. This free workshop was attended by 45 participants and covered the following areas, "Financial Planning”, “Making it Work”, “Insurance”, “Investment Projection” and “Investment Evaluation”.

YLC Workshop on Voice Enrichment
Mervin S. Singhe, a Coach/Presenter presented the workshop which was held at the KL Bar Auditorium at 3.00pm. The workshop was attended by 33 participants. The workshop covered the following areas, "Successful Communication”, “Highlights of Speech” and “Demonstrative Exercises”.

CPC/PDC/BCCLC Seminar on Protection of Constitutional Rights
Malik Imtiaz Sarwar presented the seminar which was held at the KL Bar Auditorium at 10.00am. This Seminar was organised by the KL Bar Criminal Practice Committee in collaboration with the Professional Development Committee and the Bar Council Criminal Law Committee as one of its programme to encourage more lawyers to practise Criminal Litigation. The event was attended by 52 participants.

PWC Conveyancing Workshop for Pupils
The KL Bar Pupils Welfare Committee organised a conveyancing workshop specifically for pupils on 23 October 2012. Presented by Michael Leow Yon Meng, the workshop focused primarily on the practical aspects of handling a conveyancing brief covering the following areas, “Overview of the Conveyancing Process”, “Essential clauses found in a Sale & Purchase Agreement”, “How to fill up the relevant NLC Forms” and “Practical Pointers for the conveyancing lawyer”. 51 participants attended the workshop.

SBC Meeting with KUP Selangor and Kuala Lumpur
The KL Bar Criminal Practice Committee Chair, Amrit Pal Singh attended a meeting with the KUP Selangor and Kuala Lumpur organised by the Selangor Bar Committee. It was a cordial meeting with discussions on how all parties can work hand in hand in discharging their respective duties and at same time ensuring justice is served to all.

5th Introductory Workshop to Dragon Boating
The final Introductory Workshop to Dragon boating for the year, under the auspices of the KL Bar Young Lawyers Committee and Social, Arts and Culture Committee, was held on 28 October 2012 at the Putrajaya Maritime Centre at 9.00am.
PAC Talk on “Robes, Bibs& Heels” - Balancing Legal Practice with Family
This was the second in the series of non-legal talks organised by the KL Bar Practitioners’ Affairs Committee (PAC) for the year. 12 participants attended the Talk which was presented by Anit Kaur Randhawa and Goh Siu Lin. Held in the Conference Room of the KL Bar Secretariat, this cosier venue encouraged more personal interaction and free sharing of personal experiences amongst those present. Participants rated the talk as excellent and informative and requested the PAC to organise talks of a similar nature in the future.
